Last Time Out
The Tigers dropped a pair of 3-1 decisions to second-ranked Denver last weekend ... On Friday, the Pioneers struck first at the 7:26 mark of the second period as Troy Terry scored, then took a 2-0 lead as Jarid Lukosevicious notched the eventual game-winner at the 10:46 mark. Senior captain Sam Rothstein cut the lead in half just 1:30 later as he buried a one-timer from the slot after receiving a centering pass from freshman Nick Halloran. Sophomore Mason Bergh started the play and earned his team-high ninth point of the season. The Pioneers made it 3-1 lead at the 6:22 mark of the third period when Tariq Hammond scored off a rebound ... On Saturday, sophomore Westin Michaud put CC on the board first at the 5:32 mark of the opening period after taking a centering pass from fellow sophomore Tanner Ockey, but DU's Dylan Gambrell evened the score just 25 seconds later. Denver then added a goal in the last minute of the first and second periods. Freshman goalie Alex Leclerc tied his career-high with 33 saves, including 16 in the first period.

Tiger Tales
CC scored first for the fourth time in its last five games and the eighth time overall this season ... With his assist on Saturday, Ockey tied sophomore Trey Bradley for the team lead with six helpers ... Leclerc's 16 saves in the first period Saturday set a career-high for the most in one period (14 in first period vs. Wisconsin) ... Michaud has three goals in his last three games.

Up Next
Colorado College is idle until it plays in the Florida College Hockey Classic, Dec. 28-29, in Estero, Fla. The Tigers open the tournament against Merrimack on Dec. 28, then play either tournament host Cornell or Northern Michigan on Dec. 29.

For the Record
Colorado College is 3-11-0 overall and 1-5-0-0 in the NCHC … Miami is 3-8-4 overall and 0-4-2-0 in the NCHC. The RedHawks were swept by Cornell, 4-3 and 2-1, on the road last weekend.

The Coaches
Mike Haviland (Elmira College, '90) is in his third season at the helm of the Tigers. He came to Colorado College after serving one year as head coach of the Hershey Bears (AHL). Haviland was an assistant coach for the Chicago Blackhawks from 2008-12, helping the team win the Stanley Cup in 2010. Haviland owns a career record of 176-104-36 as a head coach in the American Hockey League and 172-81-35 in the East Coast Hockey League … Enrico Blasi (Miami, '94) is in his 18th season as head coach at Miami. He is the winningest coach in school history with 369 victories and led the Redhawks to back-to-back Frozen Four appearances in 2009 and '10, including the school's first-ever berth in 2009 when Miami advanced to the national title game.

Scouting the Opposition
Anthony Louis leads the RedHawks with 18 points (9g, 9a), followed by Kiefer Sherwood with 15 (6g, 9a). Carson Meyer and Josh Melnick are also in double figures with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Ryan Larkin is 3-6-4 in the net this season and has a 2.71 goals-against average and .910 saves percentage.

Previous Meetings
Miami holds a 7-5 advantage in the all-time series with Colorado College. After CC won the first three games in the series, Miami won five straight until the Tigers swept a series at the Broadmoor World Arena last December. The RedHawks then won both games in Oxford in late February.

On the Air
All CC games in 2016-17, home and away, will be broadcast live throughout Southern Colorado on KRDO NewsRadio 105.5 FM and 1240 AM, featuring Ken Landau with the play-by-play. The broadcasts also can be heard worldwide via the Internet. Select games, including this Friday's, will be broadcast on 93.7 FM KSBV in the Salida, Burena Vista and Monarch regions.

Road Warriors
The Tigers are 3-4 this season on the road, which marks the most road wins in one season since the 2012-13 campaign. CC had two wins away from home in 2013-14 and last season, and one in '14-15.

Balanced Scoring
CC has 20 players with at least one point in the first 14 games. After Bergh's nine points, seven players have six points apiece, while another two each have five points.

Most Shortys in Four Years
CC has three shorthanded goals in its first 12 games, the most in one season since scoring eight in the 2012-13 campaign. Two of the three were scored in the 4-3 victory over New Hampshire, the first time with multiple SHG in one game since a 5-4 victory over Clarkson on Oct. 12, 2012.

Underclassmen Leading the Charge
Freshmen and sophomores accounted for four of the team's five points last weekend against Denver. Those two classes have scored 26 of CC's 33 goals and recorded 42 of the 50 assists this season.

Scoring Outburst at UMass
CC's seven goals on Oct. 8 at UMass were the most in one game since defeating Boston College 8-4 in the NCAA Midwest Regional on March 25, 2011. The Tigers' four goals in the first period of that game were the most since scoring four in the second period vs. Denver on Feb. 9, 2013. CC defeated the Pioneers, 6-5, in overtime that game. Including CC's five goals on Oct. 14 vs. UMass-Lowell, it was the first time CC scored 12 goals in a two-game stretch was Dec. 3-4, 2010, winning at Michigan Tech 7-3 and 5-0.

Fewest Shots Allowed In Over a Year
UMass' 18 shots in the season opener were the fewest allowed by CC since Nebraska Omaha had 14 on Jan. 17, 2015. In fact, the Minutemen were held to 18 shots each game, marking the first time since Jan. 15 (Alaska-Anchorage, 17) and Jan. 21 (Alabama Huntsville, 17), 2011 that CC allowed less than 20 shots in consecutive games.

This Year's Leadership
Senior forward Sam Rothstein (Minnetonka, MN) is serving as team captain for the second consecutive year in 2016-17. Rothstein, who was the first junior to be named captain at CC since Mark Stuart in 2004-05, scored 15 points (6g,9a) last season and has 52 (19g, 33a) in 109 career games. He is the first Tiger to be captain for two seasons since Eric Rud in 1995-96 and '96-97 ... Senior forward Luc Gerdes (Eden Prairie, MN), the team's leading returning scorer with 18 points (7g, 11a), and sophomore Andrew Farny (Steamboat Springs, CO), who was third on the team among freshmen with three goals last year, are the assistant captains this season.

Six Opponents Played in Postseason
Six of Colorado College's 13 opponents this season played in the NCAA Division I Hockey Tournament last season. Defending national champion North Dakota along with fellow NCHC foes Denver, St. Cloud State and Minnesota Duluth joined Boston College and UMass-Lowell among the 16 teams in the tournament.

Tough Schedule Last Season ...
Colorado College finished the 2015-16 season with the fifth-toughest schedule in the country, according to the Division I RPI. In fact, NCHC schools occupied the top seven spots on the list. Last year, CC played 21 of its 36 games, including 13 of its last 17, against teams ranked in the top 12 in the country.

... And Again This Year
Eight of Colorado College's 13 opponents this season are ranked in this week's USCHO.com Top 20 poll. In fact, five of them, Minnesota Duluth (No. 1), Denver (No. 2), Boston College (No. 4), North Dakota (No. 8) and UMass-Lowell (No. 9) and are all in the top 10. Those five teams represent 13 games this season on the schedule. In addition, St. Cloud State is No. 17, Western Michigan is No. 18 and Omaha is No. 20, adding another 12 games. In all, 25 of CC's 34 games are scheduled against Top 20 teams. Two other teams, Wisconsin and Cornell (possible opponent at Florida Hockey Classic), received votes in this week's poll.
