The Colorado College men's tennis team opened its 2016 spring break trip with a pair of victories Friday in Orlando, Fla.
 
The Tigers defeated Clark University, 7-2, and Juniata College, 6-3, to improve to 5-4 this season.
 
CC swept all six doubles matches on the day, including a pair of 8-0 wins and a 9-7 victory by sophomore Jason Gutierrez and freshman Daniel Holland over Dean Polisena and Roy Liberman of Juniata at the No. 1 position.
 
In singles play, Gutierrez was the only Tiger to win twice on Friday by capturing both of his No. 1 matches in three sets. In the morning match, he downed Andrey Samodaewv of Clasr, 6-2, 6-7(9), 1-0(7), then beat Juniata's Matyas Kohout, 6-2, 4-6, 1-0(3).
 
"We played great doubles today," head coach Anthony Weber said. "We have done a better job moving around the court and that will be a key to our season moving forward."
 
The Tigers return to action on Sunday, March 13 against Franklin Pierce College beginning at 11:30 a.m. (ET).
