Highlights via NCHC.tvFifth-ranked St. Cloud State took advantage of a late goal in each of the first two periods and defeated Colorado College, 5-2, Friday night at The Broadmoor World Arena.

With the loss, the Tigers (6-26-1, 4-18-1) secured eighth place in the NCHC will travel to 2016 Penrose Cup champion North Dakota for next week's first-round playoff series.

SCSU's Ethan Prow scored with 15.9 seconds left in the first period to break a 1-1 tie and Jimmy Schuldt broke the game open with a wrister that beat Tiger goalie
Jacob Nehama with just 0.2 seconds left in the second period to give the Huskies a 4-2 lead.

St. Cloud State (26-8-1, 16-6-1-1) peppered Nehama all night, putting 55 shots on net. Nehama responded with 50 saves, the second-most in his young career, just shy of the 52 he had at UMass-Lowell on Oct. 17.

After Jimmy Murray put the Huskies ahead 1-0 at the 4:20 mark of the first period, freshman
Ben Israel evened the game with the second goal of his career. A shot by sophomore
Duggie Lagrone clanged off the crossbar and went to Israel at the left side of the net and he put a shot into the open net past SCSU netminder Charlie Lindgren.

In the second period, Joey Benik gave St. Cloud State a 3-1 lead with a shot from the bottom of the left circle that snuck inside the far post past Nehama. CC junior
Matt Hansen cut the lead to 3-2 midway through the second by gathering the puck just inside the blue line and sending a shot on goal that found the net over Lindgren's right shoulder.

Schuldt gave the SCSU a two-goal advantage with his last-second tally at the end of the middle frame and Judd Peterson had the game's final goal in the third period.

Benik, Prow and Murray each had a goal and an assist for SCSU, while Lindgren made 22 saves as the Huskies remained tied with Denver for second place in the NCHC. Hansen and Israel each posted the first two-point game of his career for CC.

The two teams will wrap up the regular season Saturday night at 6:35 p.m. The Tigers will honor their four seniors in a pre-game ceremony.
