The Colorado College men's tennis team opened play in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with a 9-0 loss to Southwestern University Thursday evening in Georgetown, Texas.

The Pirates, ranked No. 11 in the NCAA Division III West Region, took an early 3-0 lead by winning all three doubles matches by a score of 8-3.

In singles, Southwestern (15-5) won five of the six matches in straight sets. Senior
Taylor Delehanty won the first set of the No. 3 match but fell to Grant Gideon, 4-6, 6-4, 1-0(3). Junior
Jason Gutierrez also played a solid match at the top spot before losing to Nickoloz Snovely, 6-4, 7-5.
