The Colorado College men's tennis team dropped a 5-0 decision to top-seeded Trinity University Saturday in the semifinals of the 2016 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championships in Kerrville, Texas. The Tigers, seeded fifth, will face No. 3-seed Schreiner in the third-place match on Sunday at 1 p.m. (CT).

Trinity jumped out to an early 3-0 by sweeping all three doubles matches. Junior
Jason Gutierrez and freshman
Daniel Holland fell at the No. 1 position, 8-3, to Paxton Deuel and Matt Tyer, while senior
Taylor Delehanty and sophomore
Brian Chen lost by the same score to Chas Mayer and Clayton Niess at the No. 2 spot. Junior
Jack Benham and freshman
Christian Kitchen lost to Eliot Guin and Wilson Lambeth, 8-2, at No. 3. Â

In singles, Trinity won the Nos, 1 and 4 matches in straight sets to clinch the team match. Deuel downed Gutierrez, 6-0, 6-0, at the top spot, then Tyer defeated Chen, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 4. Three other singles matches were then pulled off and the No. 6 match did not start.

Trinity and Southwestern will play in the finals on Sunday.
