Gornick’s Goal Not Enough Against Georgetown

Box Score Senior forward Dana Gornick struck for her first goal of the season, but Colorado College came out on the wrong end of a 4-1 score against Georgetown University on Sunday afternoon.

Gornick cut GU's 2-0 lead in half when she beat goalkeeper Arielle Schechtman with a blast from in front of the near post after receiving a cross from sophomore midfielder Lauren Milliet.

Senior forward Grace Damaska gave the Hoyas a 3-1 lead in the 56th minute, and junior defender Elizabeth Wenger closed out the scoring with her first goal of the season a little more than 10 minutes later.

Junior midfielder Rachel Corboz put Georgetown on the board just 2:30 into the contest when she scored from the penalty spot after CC was whistled for a foul in the box.

Crystal Thomas made it 2-0 with only 39 seconds remaining in the first half when she knocked in the rebound of Carson Nizialek's shot that caromed off the post.

Georgetown launched 15 shots, compared to one for the Tigers

Freshman goalkeeper Molly Hiniker stopped five shots for Colorado College, who slipped to 2-2.

Schechtman did not have a save for the Hoyas, who improved to 3-1-0.

The Tigers idle until Friday, Sept. 9, when they play the last of five consecutive road games at the University of Cincinnati.
