The Tigers had a power play entering the third period of a 1-1 game, but David Pope notched a shorthanded goal just 18 seconds into the frame that put the Mavs ahead for good. He rolled down the right side of the ice and placed a wrister just under the crossbar past CC goalie
Alex Leclerc.

Â
"We showed some character in the third period," head coach
Mike Haviland said. "We get a power-play goal, but then take another penalty and they made us pay."
Â

Bryce Van Horn just three minutes into the third period, when CC outshot the Mavericks 11-7. The Tigers finished with 32 shots, compared to 29 for Omaha.
Â
"We had some point-blank chances in the second period and just could not capitalize," Haviland said. "When you get those chances, you have to take advantage."
