Max Gildon recorded a hat trick and Danny Tirone had 45 saves to keep 17th-ranked New Hampshire perfect on the season with a 6-3 victory over Colorado College in Durham, N.H.
 
The Tigers outshot UNH, 48-28, including a 33-18 advantage in the final two periods, but could not get enough of them past Tirone to keep the Wildcats from becoming the first team in the country with a 5-0 record.
 
"Their guy (Tirone) played really well tonight," head coach Mike Haviland said. "I liked how we created chances tonight."
 
Gildon opened the scoring for the Wildcats just 1:58 into the contest with a power-play goal after Kristian Blumenschein was called for tripping. Gildon took a pass from Michael McNicholas and sent a wrister from the point that eluded CC goaltender Alex Leclerc.
 
The teams combined for five goals in the second period, including a pair by Gildon to complete his hat trick. Brendan van Reimsdyk scored on a breakaway at the 6:55 mark to make it 2-0, but Troy Conzo scored the first goal of his collegiate career at the 8-12 mark to cut the lead in half. Conzo collected a loose puck in the slot and placed a wrister past Tirone.
 
Gildon scored twice within a span of 1:05 later in the period to increase UNH's lead to 4-1. His second goal was a repeat of the first, a wrister from the point on the power play at the 14:08 mark, then he put a shot from the left circle above Leclerc's left shoulder and just under the crossbar at 15:13.
 
Mason Bergh scored his fifth of the season with just 1:53 left in the second to make it 4-2 with a tic-tac-toe play from linemates Trey Bradley and Nick Halloran, but Liam Blackburn put a halt to the Tiger momentum and made it 5-2 just 2:15 into the third period. Blackburn was all alone in front of the net and beat Leclerc after taking a pass from van Riemsdyk.
 
Andrew Farny gave the Tigers (3-2) a bit of hope with his first goal of the season, a power-play tally at the 17:01 mark of the third but Chris Miller wrapped up the scoring with an empty-net goal with 1.4 seconds left on the clock.
 
Bergh had a goal and an assist and Bradley had a pair of helpers. Christiano Versich led all players with six shots.
 
The Tigers struggled on the power play, going 1-for-6, while UNH capitalized on two of its three opportunites with a man advantage.
 
"We need to shore up our penalty kill," Haviland said. "It's all about chances for me, on both sides of the ice. We gave up too many odd-man rushes and they made us pay."
 
The teams will face off again Saturday night, beginning at 7 p.m. (ET).
