Last Weekend
Colorado College split its weekend series with 4th-ranked North Dakota at The Broadmoor World Arena ... On Friday, the Tigers dominated the first 40 minutes, then survived the final 20 for a 2-1 victory. Mason Bergh (Eden Prairie, MN) and Nick Halloran (Draper, UT) each had a goal and an assist, and Alex Leclerc (Longueuil, Quebec) made 26 saves. Bergh put CC on the board with his sixth goal of the season just 4:45 into the contest. Off an odd-man rush, Halloran took the puck down the right side and dropped a pass to Bergh, who moved the puck to his backhand and sent a shot past UND goalie Cam Johnson. Bergh returned the favor with the primary assist on Halloran's eventual game-winner at the 9:01 mark of the second period. With CC on the power play, Johnson saved Bergh's shot from the right side that went to Halloran at the left circle. Halloran gathered it and sent a wrist shot that beat Johnson inside the far post. Westin Michaud (Cloquet, MN) was also credited with an assist. The Fighting Hawks cut the lead in half in the final minute of the second period. After a CC turnover at its own blue line, Shane Gersich collected the puck and fired a wrister past Leclerc with 30 seconds left in the frame. That is all Leclerc let in behind him despite UND outshooting CC, 13-3, in the final 20 minutes. He stood tall and made several big-time saves, including a kick save off a blast by Gabe Bast with just over five minutes to play ... On Saturday, CC could not overcome four second-period goals by North Dakota and fell, 6-4. Despite the loss, the Tigers scored six goals in the weekend series against North Dakota, which allowed just seven in its first six games. Halloran scored an unassisted goal at the 6:25 mark of the second period and Bergh scored his seventh of the season just 2:02 later to give CC a 2-1 lead. Nick Jones scored on the power play at the 9:19 mark for the first of three consecutive goals by the Fighting Hawks, including two in a 14-second span by Austin Poganski and Bast, to take a 4-2 advantage midway through the frame. Alex Berardinelli (Pittsburgh, PA) cut the lead to one with his first goal of the season at the 14:46 mark of the second, but Jordan Kawaguchi notched the seventh goal of the period with 2:20 left to extend UND's lead to 5-3. Grant Mismash scored his second of the game just 51 seconds into the third and Trevor Gooch (Mantua, NJ) scored his second of the season with 6:10 remaining in the game to close the scoring.

Fastest to Five Since '05
With the 2-1 victory over North Dakota last Friday, the Tigers achieved their fifth win of the season earlier than any season since the 2005-06 campaign. That season, CC won its fifth game on Oct. 22. The Tigers are tied for second in the country with five wins.

Bergh Tied For National Lead in Goals ...
Bergh leads the National Collegiate Hockey Conference and is tied for the national lead with seven goals this season. He already has four multi-point games in '17-18.

... And Leclerc in Wins
Meanwhile, Leclerc is tied for the NCHC and national lead with five victories.

First Consecutive Wins over Ranked Teams Since 2013
With its wins against 17th-ranked UNH on Oct. 21 and 4th-ranked North Dakota on Oct. 27, CC defeated ranked teams in consecutive games for the first time since March 21-22, 2013, when it defeated No. 6 North Dakota and No. 1 Minnesota at the WCHA Final Five.

Up Next
The Tigers return home for a weekend series against the Omaha Mavericks, Nov. 10-11, at The Broadmoor World Arena.

For the Record
Colorado College is 5-3-0 overall and 1-1-0 in the NCHC following its home-series split with fourth-ranked North Dakota. It is the program's best record after eight games since a 5-3 start in 2012-13 ... Miami is 3-3-0 after sweeping UConn at home last weekend. The RedHawks won 3-0 on Friday and 7-1 on Saturday.

The Coaches
Mike Haviland (Elmira College, '90) is in his fourth season at the helm of the Tigers. He came to Colorado College after serving one year as head coach of the Hershey Bears (AHL). Haviland was an assistant coach for the Chicago Blackhawks from 2008-12, helping the team win the Stanley Cup in 2010 … Enrico Blasi (Miami, '94) is in his 19th season as head coach at Miami. He is the winningest coach in school history with 378 victories and led the Redhawks to back-to-back Frozen Four appearances in 2009 and '10, including the school's first-ever berth in 2009 when Miami advanced to the national title game.

Scouting the RedHawks
Sophomore forward Gordie Green leads the RedHawks this season with 11 points (4g,7a). Junior defenseman Grant Hutton follows with eight points (5g,3a) and leads the nation with five power-play goals. Sophomore goalie Ryan Larkin is 3-3 this season with a 2.97 goals-against average and an .876 saves percentage.

On the Air
All CC games in 2017-18, home and away, will be broadcast live throughout Southern Colorado on KRDO NewsRadio 105.5 and 92.5 FM, as well as 1240 AM, featuring Ken Landau with the play-by-play. Pre-game shows start 37 minutes before faceoff. The broadcasts also can be heard worldwide via the Internet ... Both games this weekend will also be available on KSBV 93.7 FM in Cripple Creek, Divide, Buena Vista, Monarch and Leadville.

Tigers Continue to Receive Votes in Both Polls
For the second consecutive week, Colorado College received votes in both the USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls. The Tigers received 47 votes in the USCHO poll (24th) and two votes in the USA Today poll (21st).

Bergh and Halloran Continue Scoring Surge
Bergh and Halloran continue to post outstanding scoring numbers early in the season. With two goals last weekend, Bergh became the first Tiger to score seven goals in the team's first eight games since Rylan Schwartz during the 2011-12 campaign. Halloran had four points against UND and is the first to post 12 points in the first eight games since Jaden Schwartz (5g,7a) the same season.

First Time on Top of the Standings
Last Friday night's game was the lone contest between NCHC squads, so with the Tigers' 2-1 victory, they held sole possession of first place in the league standings for the first time since the NCHC started play in 2013-14.

Another Tough Schedule
After playing the second-toughest schedule in the country last season, the Tigers are at it again this year. Five of Colorado College's 13 opponents this season played in the NCAA Division I Hockey Tournament last season and 17 of CC's 34 regular-season games are scheduled against teams that were ranked in the USCHO's Top 20 preseason poll.

No Seniors This Season
Colorado College is one of only two Division I programs in the country without a senior on the 2017-18 roster. Boston College is the other. The Tigers have 10 juniors, 10 sophomores and nine freshmen on the roster.

Bergh Posts Hat Trick vs. Alaska Anchorage
With three goals against UAA on Oct. 14, Bergh posted the program's first hat trick since Mike Boivin on Jan. 4, 2013, at Nebraska-Omaha. The last time a Tiger scored three times in one game at home was Rylan Schwartz against Bemidji State on Oct. 15, 2011.

Been a While Since Two with Three Helpers
With three assists apiece in CC's 6-1 victory over Alaska Anchorage on Oct. 13, Halloran and Bradley became the first pair of Tigers since Nov. 6, 2010, to record at least three assists in one game. Jaden Schwartz (4a) and Stephen Schultz (3a) did the trick against Denver.

Rally, Rally
Colorado College has rallied from a 1-0 deficit twice this season, surpassing last year's total of wins after an opponent scored first. The Tigers won only once last season after the opponent scored first, the 2-1 victory at St. Cloud State in the regular-season finale.
