Jacqui Hand, a dynamic scoring threat who possesses significant international experience playing for New Zealand Football, will enroll at Colorado College for the Spring Semester and join the women's soccer program as it begins training for the upcoming 2018 season.
Hand was one of 25 players selected to train with the Football Ferns Development Programme (FFDP) as it prepares to achieve its strategic goal of developing elite teams capable of succeeding at global events.
Most recently, Hand played with the New Zealand 'A' Women's Team against Thailand in 2016. She also competed with her country's U20 Women's Team at the World Cup in Papua, New Guinea, the U17 squad that played in Jordan and China in 2016, as well as the World Cup Qualifiers in Rarotonga, Cook Islands, in 2016.
The Auckland native was on the New Zealand Football Ferns preliminary training roster for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Hand currently owns 75 career goals, including 13 in international competition.
"We are very pleased to be adding a player of Jacqui's caliber to our program," head coach
Geoff Bennett said. "Jacqui is a great goal scorer who will make an immediate impact on our attack. She has scored goals at the international level for New Zealand and we are excited to see her do similar things for Colorado College."
Hand, who has four seasons of eligibility with the Tigers, played club soccer for the Eastern Suburbs Premier Women's team from 2015 through 2017. She was captain of the U17 squad that captured first place at the 2016 New Zealand Tournament.
Her many awards include the Golden Boot awards at the 2016 New Zealand U17 Tournament, the 2015 for the New Zealand National Women's League as well as the New Zealand U15 tournament. Hand also was named the Eastern Suburbs Young Women's Player of the Year in 2015.
Hand joins the CC program that returns 10 starters and 18 letter winners from its 2017 team.
