Huskers Top CC In Exhibition Game

Box Score Senior midfielder Haley Hanson scored a pair of goals early in the first half to lead the University of Nebraska women's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over Colorado College in an exhibition game on Saturday night at Hibner Stadium.

Hanson opened the scoring in the 10th minute after taking a feed from junior forward Michaela Loebel, and then struck for what proved to be the game-winning goal on a penalty kick a little more than eight minutes later.

First-year forward Natalie Cooke gave the Huskers a 3-0 lead when she scored off the rebound of shot that could not be controlled by CC sophomore goalkeeper Molly Hiniker.

Freshman midfielder Hannah Burgo put the Tigers on the board in the 75th when she beat junior goalkeeper Lauren Smith with a shot from the left side on a breakaway.

Hiniker made a pair of saves before giving way to freshman Jade Odom with a little more than 36 minutes remaining in the game. Odom stopped the only shot she faced.

Sophomore goalkeeper Aubrei Corder made one save for Nebraska during her 67 minutes of action.

Colorado College officially kicks off the 2017 season on Friday, August 18, when the Tigers play host to the University of Northern Colorado at 3 p.m. on Stewart Field.
