Box Score 2 No. 2-ranked Colorado College kept its perfect record intact with a pair of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victories, including one in a showdown with No. 4 Trinity University.
Sophomore outside hitters
Haley Harris and
Jordan Mullen combined for 25 kills to help CC defeat Trinity 25-22, 25-16, 25-21.
Mullen had 12 kills on 23 attempts with only one error, good for a sizzling .478 hitting percentage.
Sophomore setter
Lizzy Counts had four kills on five attempts, dished out 33 assists and chipped into the defensive effort with nine digs.
Early in each of the first two sets, the Texas Tigers went to-to-toe with Colorado College. After trailing early in the first set, CC opened a 15-11 lead. TU fought back to within 20-18, but that was as close as it would get.
The second set was tied 10-10 when Colorado College took control with a 10-3 run.
CC led by four points on multiple occasions in the third set, but Trinity clawed its way back to within 18-17 on a kill by Audrey Hazelwood.
Colorado College scored the next three points, only to see TU cut its deficit to 22-21 on a Hazlewood ace, but CC used a kill by Mullen and two more from junior right side hitter
Aria Dudley to close out the match.
Sophomore libero
Anna Gurolnick had a match-high 14 digs.
Megan Reynolds had seven kills for TU, which his .068 as a team.
Bridget Bohman led Trinity with 11 digs. Â
In the first match of the day, Colorado College cruised to a 25-12, 25-16, 25-18 win over Schreiner University.
Again, it was Mullen and Harris who led the Tigers with nine and eight kills, respectively.
Junior middle hitter
Myca Steffey-Bean and Dudley each had five kills on five attacks during the first set for CC, which hit .419 as a team.
Gurolnick had a match-high 14 digs.
Mallory Dunn led the Mountaineers with seven kills, while Heather Norman had a team-high nine digs.
Colorado College faces No. 5 Southwestern and weekend host Texas Lutheran University on Sunday at 10 a.m. and noon, respectively.
