CC Dominates in Home Finale

The Colorado College volleyball team wrapped up the home portion of its 2018 schedule with a dominating 25-11, 25-11, 25-6 victory Friday afternoon over the Mississippi University for Women at Reid Arena.

Following a pre-game ceremony honoring the team's three seniors, Aria Dudley, Myca Steffey-Bean and Sarah Lawton, the Tigers went to work right off the bat, jumping out to a 14-5 lead behind three kills from Steffey-Bean and a couple of aces from Lawton.

Steffey-Bean added another two kills and served an ace on set point as CC took the first set. The Tigers recorded 16 kills and just three errors for a .520 hitting percentage.

The second set looked similar to the first as CC won seven of the first eight points. A service ace by MUW's Savannah Thomas cut the lead to 9-7, but the Tigers never relinquished the lead and scored the final 10 points of the game, including five aces from Steffey-Bean.

After the Owls won the first point of the third set, CC reeled off 12 straight points and never looked back. Lawton served out the final four points as the Tigers improved to 27-2.

Steffey-Bean led all players with 13 kills and seven aces. Lawton recorded a team-high eight digs and pair of aces, while Isabelle Aragon-Menzel and Lizzy Counts paced CC with 17 and 15 assists, respectively.

Tori Weir and Cicely Goldhorn led the Owls (4-20) with four kills apiece, while Madison Lamon and Mary Grace Prine each collected a team-high five assists.

The Tigers wrap up the 2018 regular season on Saturday, Oct. 27 with SCAC matches against the University of Dallas (10 a.m.) and Johnson & Wales (4 p.m.) in Denver.
