The puck drops at 7 p.m. AT / 9 p.m MT on Saturday, Oct. 6, and 5 p.m. AT / 7 p.m. MT on Sunday, Oct. 7. Both games will be broadcast in Colorado Springs on KRDO NewsRadio 105.5 FM, 1240 AM and 92.5 FM.

Getting Started
This season marks the 80th year of varsity ice hockey at Colorado College and sixth season as a member of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference. CC was a charter member of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (1951-52) for 62 seasons before joining the NCHC with seven other schools prior to the 2013-14 campaign.

Season Openers
Colorado College is 47-30-2 all-time in regular-season openers. The Tigers are 40-14-1 at home and 7-16-1 on the road (including neutral games). Last season, the Tigers opened with a 3-0 loss at Vermont.

For the Record
Colorado College finished the 2017-18 season with a 15-17-5 record, including an 8-12-4 mark and a tie for fifth place in the NCHC standings … Alaska Anchorage was 4-26-4 overall and 4-21-3 in the WCHA last season. The Seawolves finished 10th in the conference in 2017-18.

Previous Meetings
Saturday's game will be the 80th meeting between the two teams. Colorado College owns a 56-18-5 record against the Seawolves, including a series sweep (6-1 and 3-2) last season in Colorado Springs.

Up Next
The Tigers open the home portion of the 2018-19 season against Alabama Huntsville on Friday, Oct. 12 and Air Force on Saturday, Oct. 13, at The Broadmoor World Arena.

The Coaches
Mike Haviland (Elmira College, '90) enters his fifth season at the helm of the Tigers. He came to Colorado College after serving one year as head coach of the Hershey Bears (AHL). Haviland was an assistant coach for the Chicago Blackhawks from 2008-12, helping the team win the Stanley Cup in 2010 … Matt Curley (Clarkson, '07) is in his first season as head coach at Alaska Anchorage. He was the head coach of the EC Red Bulls Juniors team based out of Salzburg, Austria, for the past three seasons and has assistant coaching stints at the U.S. National Team Development Program, Bentley College and the Indiana Ice of the USHL.

Tigers Finished '17-18 Tied For Fifth in NCHC
The Tigers finished the 2017-18 season in a three-way tie for fifth place in the NCHC standings with Western Michigan and Omaha, CC's best regular-season finish in conference play since a fifth-place finish in the WCHA in 2011-12. The Tigers, who posted the second-biggest improvement by points in the league standings from the '16-17 season (+14; St. Cloud State was +22), finished eighth in the league the previous three years and seventh in the first year of the NCHC in 2013-14.

Almost Everyone Returns
The Tigers return 98% of their goals and points from last season, the highest percentage of all Division I teams, including the line of seniors Mason Bergh and Trey Bradley and junior Nick Halloran, which produced 116 points (44g,72a) last season and is the NCHC's top returning line.

Tough Schedule Again This Season
After playing 21 of its 36 games against ranked teams last season, the Tigers are at it again this year. Four of Colorado College's 15 opponents this season played in the NCAA Division I Hockey Tournament last season and 18 of CC's 36 regular-season games are scheduled against teams that were ranked in the USCHO's Top 20 preseason poll, including 12 against the last three national champions (Minnesota Duluth, Denver and North Dakota), the most of any team in the country.

Halloran Named to NCHC Preseason Team
Halloran was named to the NCHC Preseason All-Conference Team last month. Halloran and Minnesota Duluth sophomore defenseman Scott Perunovich led all honorees in voting, receiving 24 votes each. Last season, Halloran ranked third in the NCHC with 45 points on 19 goals and 26 assists in 37 games, en route to first-team All-NCHC and second-team All-America honors. He is the first Tiger to be selected to the preseason team since current Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Jaccob Slavin prior to the 2014-15 campaign.

Captains Remain the Same
Seniors Mason Bergh and Tanner Ockey will wear the "C" for the second consecutive season, while fellow seniors Andrew Farny and Cole McCaskill will serve as the assistant captains for the 2018-19 campaign. This season marks Farny's third wearing an "A", and the second for McCaskill.

New On-Campus Arena on the Horizon
Colorado College, in partnership with Colorado Springs' City for Champions initiative, has   unveiled a proposal to build the Edward J. Robson Arena as an on-campus competition arena. If approved, this new facility with 3,000 permanent seats would become the permanent home of CC Tiger Hockey and, for the first time since the program's founding in 1938, the CC hockey team would be able to play games on campus.
