The Colorado College women's soccer program added five more future Tigers to its incoming recruiting class, strengthening its roster that could return as many as nine starters and 15 veterans from the 2018 squad that posted a 9-7-2 record and earned a berth for the Mountain West Championship.
Â
The most recent student-athletes who chose to continue their academic and athletic careers at CC are forward Jordan Darrow (Pacific Palisades, Calif.), goalkeeper Greta Forseth (Minneapolis, Minn.), forward Kelby Kuo (Scottsdale, Ariz.), defender Josephine Morales (Santa Barbara, Calif.), and midfielder Alexa Porter (Littleton, Colo.).
Â
Darrow was a four-year captain for Santa Monica United, where she led her team to the 2018 Southern California National Premiere League championship, as well as a second-place finish in the Coast Soccer League Premiere Division in 2017.
Â
Darrow earned three varsity letters at Palisades Charter High School in Pacific Palisades, Calif., and was named a team captain as a senior. She helped the Dolphins win back-to-back Western League championships in 2017 and 2018, and reach the finals of the Los Angeles City section and advance to the CIS regional playoffs in 2018.
Â
"Jordan is very fast and loves to get behind back lines in the final third," Bennett said. "She can give us a different look up top by her ability to stretch back lines. Jordan can help our point production in the final third."
Â
Forseth played goalkeeper for Eclipse Select of the National Premiere Leagues in West St. Paul, Minn.
Â
Forseth played soccer and hockey at Academy of Holy Angels in Richfield, Minn., where she earned four varsity letters in soccer. She was an all-state selection and Tri-Metro Conference Goalkeeper of the Year after recording 16 shutouts during her senior season. Forseth helped the Stars win the sectional championship and finish third in the state tournament that season.
Â
"Greta is a goalkeeper with great presence and hands," Bennett said. "She can dominate her 18-yard box by cutting out service and by reading the game very well. We think Greta and the other keepers in our program will help us have the bet goalkeeping group in the Mountain West."
Â
Kuo was a member of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Team in 2018-19 and trained with the Arizona Olympic Development Program 01 team in 2017. She also played both defender and forward for the Development Academy of the Utah Royals FC in Arizona, and helped the Sereno Soccer Club qualify for the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) national tournament.
Â
Kuo competed in soccer and track at Cactus Shadows High School in Cave Creek, Ariz., where she earned five varsity letters, including three in soccer. Kuo, who helped he Falcons make three consecutive appearances in the state playoffs, was a two-time all-Region selection as well as a first-team all-conference selection as a junior. A two-time United States Track and Field High School All-American, Kuo won seven USATF regional championships and 14 Arizona state championships competing in the 100- and 200-meters, the 4x100 and discus.
Â
"Kelby is very fast and athletic and we believe she can develop into a great defender at the D1 level after being a forward during her youth career," Bennett said. "Kelby will be tough and aggressive and we look forward to her competing for an outside back spot as soon as she gets on campus."
Â
Morales was a three-year captain at the Santa Barbara Soccer Club, where she helped her teams climb to the Premiere Division for her final three seasons.
Â
A four-sport athlete at Dos Pueblos High School in Goleta, Calif., Morales earned nine varsity letters, including four in soccer. She was named her team's MVP as a junior and Best Defensive Player as a sophomore. Morales also was the cross country team's Rookie of the Year as a junior.
Â
"Josie is an athletic and composed central defender who likes to make the game with the ball at her feet," Bennett said. "Josie can help our team keep a rhythm on the ball and can probe forward out of the backline."
Â
Porter played center back/midfielder for Real Colorado of the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL), where she helped her Development Academy team claim the U16/U17 National Championship in 2018.
Â
Porter played two seasons of varsity soccer at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colo. She was a second-team all-conference selection as a sophomore after receiving honorable-mention accolades as a freshman.
Â
"Lexi is a central defender who is extremely smart and reads the game very well," Bennett said. "She is good in the air and connects on a high rate of passes out of the back. Lexi will be looking to make her mark from day one in our back line."
Â
The quintet will join forward Brinlee Collings (Pleasant View, Utah), forward Adelaide Gaffney (Prairieville, La.), goalkeeper Abby Opperman (Albuquerque, N.M.) and defender Hailee Rasmussen (Salem, Ore.) on the pitch when Colorado College begins training for the 2019 season in August.
Â
Colorado College officially kicks off the 2019 season on Friday, Aug. 23, at home against Texas A&M Corpus-Christi.
