Grand Canyon Deflects Tigers in Exhibition

McKenzie Cook scored a pair of unassisted goals during the opening 10 minutes to lead the Grand Canyon University women's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over Colorado College in an exhibition game on Friday night at the Scottsdale Sports Complex.

Both of Cook's goals were the result of deflections off of CC players.

Andrea Martinez gave GCU a 3-0 lead when she found the net in the 21st minute, and the Tigers got one back when pressure resulted in an own goal by the Lopes 31 seconds into the second of the three periods.

GCU outshot Colorado College 6-1 during the first 30 minutes and finished with a 12-6 advantage.

Sophomore Jade Odom made five saves while going the distance in goal for the Tigers.

Abby Burton stopped five shots for the Lopes.

CC plays its final preseason tune-up at Arizona State University on Sunday at 7 p.m. PT.
