The third-ranked Colorado College volleyball team served up a pair of three-set victories to open the 2018 season on Friday in the 2018 CC Classic at Reid Gymnasium.

In the first match of the day, junior middle hitter Marguerite Spaethling put down a team-high 10 kills to lead the Tigers to a 25-11, 25-22, 25-17 victory over North Central College.

Spaethling, who hit .348 with on 23 attacks with just two errors, also led CC with three service aces and assisted on three blocked shots.

Junior outside hitter Haley Harris finished with eight kills and 10 digs, while senior opposite hitter Aria Dudley hit .333 with five kills on 12 swings with only one error.

As a team, the Tigers hit .229, compared to just .071 for the Cardinals.

Sophomore defensive specialist Rachel Krutz had 14 digs to pace Colorado College

Kaitlyn Boelter-Eberhardt led North Central with a match-high 13 kills, while junior libero Katelynn Kuehl took the honors with 16 digs.

In the final match of the day, CC cruised to a 25-12, 25-16, 25-17 win over Nebraska Wesleyan University.

Thanks in part to the efforts of senior middle hitter Myca Steffey-Bean, who hit a match-high .474, the Tigers hit .400 in the first set and never were seriously threatened.

Steffey-Bean finished with 10 kills on 19 attacks with only one misfire.

Spaethling led all players with 11 kills and hit .333. She also had a hand in five blocked shots and was a big reason why the PrairieWolves hit .000 as a team.

Krutz registered a match-high 16 digs.

Kierra Harder had nine kills for NWU, while Lizzie Saale recorded a team-high 12 digs.
