The Columbia University women's soccer team made the most of its few offensive chances and escaped Stewart Field with a 2-1 victory over Colorado College on Friday afternoon.

Junior midfielder Maddie Temares knocked home a cross from Mallaika Tomar early in the 67th minute for what proved to be the game-winning goal.

The Lions broke through in the 17th minute when sophomore midfielder Grace Hall deflected freshman midfielder Jessica Schildkraut's free kick from the right side as players from both teams jostled in the box.

Lucia Costanza leveled the score just before halftime when she took a one-touch feed from freshman forward
Abby Hubbard and notched her first collegiate goal with a shot to the left side of the net.

Rae Conlon started the play when she worked the ball free along the end line and directed it to Hubbard.

That proved to be the only ball the Tigers would get past Sophie Whitehouse, who made 10 saves for Columbia. The senior goalkeeper stopped six shots in the first half when CC launched 12 of its 21 total shots.

Jade Odom stopped three shots for Colorado College, which slipped to 3-1 on the season.

The sophomore goalkeeper made a save on a shot by Jordyn Geller from the top of the box nine minutes into the second half, and then made a diving save on Geller's blast in the 84th minute, diving to her right to punch the ball past the left post.

The Tigers finished with a 21-10 advantage in total shots and a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.

Colorado College travels to the Lone Star State next week for games at Texas A&M University on Friday, Sept. 7, and Lamar University on Sunday, Sept. 9.
