The second-ranked Colorado College volleyball team won a pair of SCAC matches Saturday in Irving, Texas, defeating Schreiner in three sets and Texas Lutheran in four.

Marguerite Spaethling hit .500 with a match-high 13 kills as CC made quick work of Schreiner with a 25-14, 25-16, 25-14 victory.

Haley Harris added 12 kills on 27 swings with just two errors, and finished the match with a .370 hitting percentage.

Laney Swan put down six kills on 16 attempts with just one error.

As a team, the Tigers hit .303.

The Mountaineers led 3-2 during the first set, but an 8-2 surge by the Tigers was a signal of what was to come. After Schreiner trimmed its deficit to 14-10, CC closed out the set with an 11-4 run.

Colorado College took an early 7-2 lead in the second set and stretched the advantage to 20-10 on a kill by Swan. After the Mountaineers scored five in a row to cut their deficit in half, the Tigers scored five of the final six points.

In the third set, Schreiner was within a point at 11-10, but the CC attack caught fire and closed out the match with a 14-4 run.

Rachel Krutz had a team-high 12 digs for the Tigers, while
Caitlin Laurence added 10.

Elora Reyes led the Mountaineers with a match-high 16 digs, while four teammates had four kills.

As a team, Schreiner hit .011.

In the second match, Spaethling and Harris led the Tigers with 13 kills apiece.

In the first set, CC held an 18-15 advantage following a Spaethling kill, but the Bulldogs won 11 of the final 17 points to take a 1-0 lead.

The second set was back and forth as well, and the Tigers need to win the final four points, which included a pair of kills from Harris and a service ace by Krutz, to even the match at 2-all.

The Tigers handled the Bulldogs in the final two sets, hitting .571 in the third and .441 in the fourth.

Junior setter
Lizzy Counts produced a match-high 47 assists while Laurence led all players with 22 digs.

Colorado College (17-1) travels to St. Louis next week for the Washington University Invitational. The Tigers face the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and Augustana College on Friday, Oct. 5, and finish the tournament against the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and No. 10 WashU on Saturday.
