Colorado College posted a season-best .429 hitting percentage and needed just 68 minutes to dispose of Johnson & Wales University on Tuesday night at the Wildcat Center.
The Tigers cruised to a 25-14, 25-16, 25-11 victory, allowing a season-low 41 points in the three sets.
CC had three players hit .500 or better, led by junior middle hitter
Emma Hewlin who hit a season-best .714 with 10 kills on 14 attacks without an error.
In two sets, sophomore middle hitter
Georgia Mullins produced kills on all five of her swings for a 1.000 attack percentage.
Freshman outside hitter
Meaghan Hohman hit .636 with eight kills on 11 swings with only a single error.
Hohman had kills on all four of her attempts during the first set when the Tigers snapped a 4-4 tie with a 13-4 run.
In the second set, it was senior outside hitter
Jordan Mullen who went 4-for-4 as Colorado College raced to a 9-1 lead and never looked back.
JWU stayed with the Tigers early in the final set, but after the Wildcats pulled even at 8-8, CC closed out the match with a 17-4 surge.
Colorado College Standouts
Sophomore outside hitter
Isabella Vasquez produced five kills, six digs and three block assists.
Junior setter
Isabelle Aragon-Menzel dished out 14 assists, had six digs and led the Tigers with a match-high three aces.
Johnson & Wales Standouts
Hope Hines led the Wildcats with seven kills.
Kaitlin Jones and Hines had seven digs apiece for JWU.
Notes
Johnson & Wales did not have an ace against the Tigers. The last time that happened was Oct. 1, 2017, in a four-set victory against Texas Lutheran University.
With its .116 attack percentage JWU became just the seventh team to hit .100 or better against CC this year.
Next for the Tigers
Colorado College travels to Kerrville, Texas, for SCAC crossover matches. The Tigers play the University of St. Thomas and No. 8 Trinity University on Saturday, Oct. 5, then Austin College and Texas Lutheran University the following day.
