Tigers Fall to New Mexico, 1-0

The University of New Mexico made the most of one of its few offensive chances and escaped Stewart Field with a 1-0 victory over Colorado College on Friday night.

The CC defense allowed only four shots on goal, but Alexa Kirton put a perfectly placed shot under the crossbar from 22 yards out at the 57-minute mark for the only goal of the .

The Tigers nearly broke through late in the fourth minute, but Kiley Suter's shot off an Abby Hubbard corner was stopped near the left post by UNM defender Karlee Maes.

In the 15th minute, New Mexico goalkeeper Malia Vanisi denied a Suter's shot one-touch volley from the center of the box off Jenna Wilt's cross from the right side.  

Colorado College finished the game with a 19-17 advantage in total shots and a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.

The Tigers put 10 of their shots on goal.  

Molly Hiniker made three saves for CC, while Vanisi stopped nine shots.   

The Tigers slipped to 8-5-0 overall and 3-4-0 in the Mountain West.
