The Colorado College women's soccer team mounted an impressive comeback during the final 44 minutes against San Diego State on Sunday, but the Tigers were unable to score the equalizer and dropped a 3-2 result to the Aztecs at Stewart Field.

After a series of near misses,
Jacqui Hand cut CC's deficit in half when she settled a ball in the box, took a touch away from the goal, then turned and put a shot inside the near post for her team-leading eighth goal of the season.

SDSU, which loaded its lineup with defenders and defensive midfielders, was able to kill off the final 6:38 to escape with the victory.

Laura Fuentes gave the Aztecs a 3-1 lead 51 seconds into the second half on a header off a cross from Chloe Frisch.

The Tigers nearly got one back in the 55th minute, but
Kiley Suter was unable to get to Hand's cross on the right side while making a run inside the post.

A little more than 10 minutes later, San Diego State goalkeeper Brooke Lisowski tipped
Catie McDonald's crossing shot from the right side over the crossbar.

In the 67th minute,
Riley Prillwitz put a first-touch shot from in front of the left post inches wide of the near post as Lisowski came off her line to challenge inside the top of the box.

Toni Tsamasfyros nearly scored in the 77th minute, but her shot from the left side was tipped over the crossbar by Lisowski.

Colorado College broke through in the late in the seventh minute when
Hailee Rasmussen scored her first collegiate goal on a header off
Kayla Montoya's cross.

Rachel Elve tied the game at the 14-minute mark with a crossing shot from the top of the box inside the far post, then Chloe Frisch struck 2:02 later to give San Diego State the lead.

Colorado College finished with a 20-16 advantage in total shots while each team won five corner kicks.

The Tigers slipped to 8-6-0 overall and 3-5-0 in the Mountain West.
