The Colorado College women's soccer team arrived in Logan, Utah, with a ton of confidence after a 1-0 upset victory over the Mountain West leaders, Boise State, on Friday.
Â
Unfortunately, Utah State squashed that confidence and made CC's goal of advancing to the conference tournament much more difficult with a 3-0 victory over the Tigers Sunday afternoon.
Â
USU's Imelda Williams opened the scoring in the 17
th minute after putting a shot from the middle of the box past Tiger goalie
Molly Hiniker.
Â
The Aggies (7-10-1, 2-7-1 MW) doubled their lead just 18 seconds into the second half when Kami Warner stole the ball and fired a shot from 20 yards just over the outstretched arms of Hiniker and under the crossbar. Alecia Robinson closed out the scoring in the 50
th minute.
Â
Colorado College (9-7, 4-6 MW) remains in ninth place in the Mountain West standings, but could still sneak into the sixth and final spot in the conference tournament with a win over Air Force next Friday night along with a San Jose State (vs. Fresno State) tie or loss and Wyoming (at Colorado State) tie or loss.
