Colorado College pushed top-seeded Trinity University to the limit, but its upset bid came up short in Saturday's semifinal game of the 2019 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Championship.
Abby Holland set a tournament single-game record with 38 points as TU rallied for a 65-61 victory.
CC led 59-57 after senior guard
Casey Torbet scored on a layup with 1:59 remaining, but Holland scored seven consecutive points to give Trinity a 64-59 cushion.
Torbet scored again with seven seconds to go, but Rachel Chavez hit one of two free throws to make it a two-possession game.
With seven points, Torbet became just the 10th player in program history to record 1,100 or more points.
Junior guard

Nia Duplain added 12 points and five boards before fouling during the final minute.
Sophomore guard
Jade Odom posted her first career double-double with 10 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
CC led by 12 when
Izzy Hensley hit a layup with 2:06 remaining in the first half, but back-to-back triples by Chavez cut the Colorado College lead to 30-24 at the break.
Meltzer gave CC a 35-24 lead a little more than two minutes into the third quarter, but Trinity utilized a 21-8 surge to take a 45-43 lead after 30 minutes.
TU trailed the entire game before Hailey Coleman completed a three-point play with 2:19 remaining in the third quarter.
Coleman finished 14 points for Trinity, while Chavez added 11.
Colorado College finished the season with a 12-14 record.
TU advanced to the Sunday's SCAC championship game and will play host Texas Lutheran University.
