Tigers Open SCAC Schedule With 3-1 Victory Over Texas Lutheran

The Colorado College men's soccer team kicked off its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference schedule with a 3-1 victory over Texas Lutheran University on Friday afternoon at Stewart Field.

Sophomore midfielder Ronan McCann struck for the game winner 3:14 into the second half with a shot from the left side of the box after freshman defender Curtis Hale kept a Sajji Singh direct kick alive. It also was McCann's first career goal.

A little more than four minutes later, junior defender Atticus Lynch gave the Tigers a 3-0 lead when he scored off a cross from freshman forward Gabe Kellman from the right side of the box.

CC's two second-half goals became necessary when Nathan Roy put the Bulldogs on the board in the 80th minute after goalkeeper Keleher Felton had the ball knocked from his hands in a collision after making a save.

Felton made the play of the game with 5:40 remaining when he denied a penalty kick by TLU's Luis Green with a diving save toward the left post.

Earlier in the second half, Felton made a diving save on shot by Green toward the right post.

The Tigers broke through in the 17th minute when Kellman got on the end of a cross from Lynch.

With a goal and an assist, Kellman reclaimed the team lead with 13 points.

Coach's Comments
"We are pleased to start the back half of the season with a win," head coach Scott Palguta said. "We didn't do a great job of closing the game out, but we did well to control long stretches of the game and scored a few nice goals. Keleher's penalty kick save was timely and gave the group a needed boost to finish the game off."

Colorado College Standouts
Atticus Lynch recorded the first three-point game of his career.
Keleher Felton finished with three saves.

Texas Lutheran Standouts
Luis Green launched five shots and all three of the team's shots on goal.

Colorado College improved to 7-2-0 overall.
Texas Lutheran slipped to 4-3-1.
