Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Athletic Communications

Colorado College, Utah State Go the Distance for a 1-1 Draw

The Colorado College women's soccer team and Utah State University each played 110 minutes for the second time this weekend and got only a point to show for their efforts.

Just like their  most recent meeting during the 2021 spring season, CC and the Aggies finished in a 1-1 tie on Sunday afternoon at Stewart Field. The game marked the third consecutive meeting between the teams that went beyond 90 minutes of regulation time.

Colorado College broke through in the 51st minute when Kaelin Woodruff struck for her first collegiate goal off of a cross from the left side of the box by Jacqui Hand. Woodruff's high shot from the center of the 18-yard box went off the hands of Utah State goalkeeper Diera Walton and snapped the Aggie's scoreless streak at 260 minutes.

Hand extended her point streak to three games and climbed into a tie for 28th place on the program's career chart, joining Stacy Black (1989-92) and Traci Holbrook (1990-93) with 42 points.

The Tigers maintained their lead until the 87th minute when Kelse Steed-Kaufusi's service landed in the left side of the box, and Sammie Murdock was able to slip it inside the left post before the CC defense could clear it away. It was one of only two dangerous scoring opportunities created in by the Utah State offense

In the 74th minute, Colorado College goalkeeper Taryn Benham came off her line to punch away Ashley Cardozo's direct kick from outside the box on the left side that was headed for the upper right corner.

The Tigers finished with a 16-6 advantage in total shots and a 7-2 edge in corner kicks.
