The Colorado College men's soccer team was unable to capitalize on a dominant first half and No. 3 Trinity University seized the opportunity to escape Stewart Field with a 2-1 victory on Friday afternoon.
It didn't take long for CC to create its first scoring opportunity when
Sajji Singh created space outside the top of the box, but he drilled the left post with a shot from 25 yards away.
Trinity broke through in the ninth minute when Michael Meese collected a long pass from Hunter Cain and slipped a shot past Colorado College goalkeeper
Keleher Felton from 14 yards out on the left side of the box.
A little more than five minutes later, CC leveled the score when Singh took a pass from
Alexander Ward and put a high crossing shot from the right side of the box into the upper left side of the net.
Singh's third goal of the season improved his point total to 16, which ranks third on the team.
Colorado College had several dangerous scoring chances in the first half, but Singh's shot from 15 yards toward an open right side of the net was blocked by TU's Tom Whitwell, then
Ronan McCann's high shot from the center of the box was tipped over the crossbar by Trinity goalkeeper Juan Carlos Vidales.
Philip Duenez put Trinity back in front in the 71st minute, then TU caught a huge beak when Singh was booked for the second time for supposedly knocking into Videlas to the ground while battling for position with a defender.
Playing a man down for the final 11 minutes, CC was unable to net the equalizer and Trinity was able to run out the clock.
TU finished with a 17-15 edge in total shots while each team won five corner kicks.
