Tigers Fall to UNLV to Split Weekend Home Games

The Colorado College women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision against UNLV on Sunday afternoon and settled for a split in its Mountain West home games this weekend at Stewart Field.

Despite producing a 20-11 advantage in total shots and 10-3 edge in corner kicks, the Tigers were unable to solve the Rebel defense and goalkeeper Riley Liebsack, who finished with none saves.

Colorado College allowed only six shots during the first half, but UNLV converted on its only scoring opportunity when Alysa Caso got on the end of a long pass from Haley Halbersma and chipped the ball past CC goalkeeper Taryn Benham.

The Rebels doubled their lead in the 63rd minute when Ariana Reyes placed a shot from distance under the crossbar after taking a touch from Lourdes Bosch.

The Tigers possessed the ball for most of the final 26 minutes when they launched eight shots and won three corner kicks, but were unable to get on the board.

Coaches Comments
"I'm frustrated," head coach Geoff Bennett said. "We are all frustrated. We played a good game today and came away on the wrong end of a result. We continue to have the run of play, the better of chances and looks, but we aren't capitalizing on our chances. We will continue to work in the final third and get ready for CSU."

Colorado College Standouts
Jacqui Hand led the Tigers with four shots, including three on goal.
Alexa Porter launched three shots, two of which were on target.

UNLV Standouts
Riley Liebsack made nine saves for the Rebels.
Kaitlyn Kowalchuk launched one shot and had led the team's set-piece defense.

Notes
Colorado College is 2-8-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the Mountain West.
