Colorado State Escapes With First-Ever Victory Over Tigers

Despite a dominant performance during the second half, the Colorado College women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 result at Colorado State University on Friday afternoon.

CSU's Gracie Armstrong struck for the only goal of the game when she collected a ricochet ball at the top of the box and scored in the unprotected right side of the goal.

The Rams spent the rest of the game dodging bullets, the closest of which occurred on back-to-back shots in the 65th minute. Jenna Wilt drilled the right post with a direct kick from 22 yards out, then the Tigers sent a first-touch shot off the rebound from eight yards over the crossbar.

Less than a minute later, Aspen Jeter's header at the back post off a cross from the right side landed on the wrong side of the frame.

Shayna Ross made her best save of the game early in the 76th minute when she lunged to her right to deny Jacqui Hand's crossing shot from the top left corner of the box.

Taryn Benham made a season-high six saves for the Tigers.

CC finished with a 13-10 edge in total shots and a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Colorado State's victory was its first over the Tigers in eight tries. Colorado College leads the all-time series 4-1-3.
