Luglio Strikes Twice as Tigers Rally to Edge Dallas In Overtime

Vincent Luglio struck for a pair of goals, including his first career Golden Goal 2:24 into the second overtime, to lift the Colorado College men's soccer team to a dramatic 2-1 victory at the University of Dallas on Friday night.

Luglio settled a failed clearance just inside the middle of the box, took a touch and fired low right with his right foot to complete the first brace of his career with his fourth game winner of the season.

The freshman midfielder sent the game to overtime when he scored midway through the 82nd minute.

Gabe Kellman settled a loose ball inside the box and sent it back to Luglio, who curled a right footed shot into the lower right corner from just outside the box. It marked the fourth time this season Luglio scored off of an assist from Kellman.

Luglio leads the Tigers with seven goals, while Kellman tied Sajji Singh for the team lead with seven assists.

The Crusaders broke through in the 20th minute when Karson Pannell scored off of a touch from Jose Salinas-Arreola.

Colorado College finished the game with a 27-11 edge in total shots a 19-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Coaches Comments
"We played a very flat first half, and anytime you spot a counterattacking team a goal, you're forced to play on their terms a little bit," head coach Scott Palguta said. "I thought our second half and overtime mentality was much stronger and our aggressive attacking play eventually broke them."

"Vinny has excellent goal scoring instincts. He doesn't need a lot of chances to score, and has the composure and technique needed to be a deadly finisher."

Colorado College Standouts
Gabe Kellman put five of his six shots on target.
Keleher Felton finished with five saves, including a pair during the first overtime.

University of Dallas Standouts
Karson Pannell put all three of his shots on target.
Goncalo Pernas finished with 12 saves for the Crusaders.

Notes
Colorado College improved to 8-2-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the SCAC.
