CC Improves to 29-5 with Sweep of Texas Lutheran

    
The No. 7 Colorado College volleyball team closed out its regular season with a 25-16, 25-23, 25-22 victory over Texas Lutheran University in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference third-place match on Sunday morning.

Sophomore outside hitter Isabella Lipacis led the Tigers with 15 kills and completed her 18th double-double of the season with 12 digs. She became the 28th Tiger to record 400 or more digs in a single-season and now ranks 26th with 406.

Isabella Vasquez recorded her 13th double-double this year with 11 kills and 14 digs. She now improved her career totals to 793 kills and 723 digs and is one of only 17 players in program history to record 700 or more in each statistical category.

Lipacis recorded eight kills during the first set when CC hit .359 during and sprinted to an early 16-6 lead.

Texas Lutheran grabbed an early 9-4 cushion in the second frame and stayed in front until sophomore setter Jenny Jenks tied the score at 21-21 with an ace. The Bulldogs scored the next point, but Colorado College rallied with a 4-1 surge to take a two-set lead.

The Tigers grabbed an early 9-5 advantage in the third set, but TLU fought back with a 12-4 run in an effort to extend the match. CC tied the set at 21-21 with an 8-4 burst, and after the Bulldogs called a timeout, a kill from sophomore outside hitter Keeley Kandziora sparked a 4-1 run and the match ended with a kill senior middle hitter Georgia Mullins.  

Jenks dished out 35 assists and improved her total for the year to 1,288, which ranks second on the program's single-season list.

Mullins put down eight kills and climbed to fifth on the single-season chart with 463.

CC improved to 29-10 (.744) all-time in SCAC tournament matches and has not finished outside of the top three since a fourth-place finish in 2008.

Peyton Hummel finished with 13 digs and three aces.
Jenny Jenks produced 35 assists and nine digs.

Tanyse Moerig-Woodard led the Bulldogs with eight kills.
Lexi Morris recorded a match-high 22 digs.

The Tigers are expected to earn the program's 23rd consecutive berth in the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship when the brackets are announced on Monday, Nov. 7, at 10:30 a.m. MT.
