Bayston Pours In 38 Points During One-Point Loss at Texas Lutheran

Audrey Bayston poured in a career-high 38 points, but the Colorado College women's basketball team dropped an 83-82 result to Texas Lutheran University on Saturday afternoon at Memorial Gym.

Bayston's total ranks third on the program's single-game list behind two performances by Lorna Kollmeyer. The CC Hall of Famer scored 46 against Idaho State University and 39 versus the Colorado School of Mines during the 1977-78 season.

The sophomore swing player scored nine points during the final 1:05 when the Tigers erased an eight-point deficit to tie the game at 82-82 with 29 seconds remaining.

The Bulldogs reclaimed the lead when Jayla Santa Maria sank one of two free throws with 15 seconds to go and survived as Colorado College could not get a pair of shots to drop during the final six seconds.

Bayston completed her first double-double of the season and the second of her career with 11 rebounds.

First-year forward Zoe Tomlinson recorded her third double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds before fouling out with 43 seconds to go.

The Tigers built a 38-21 lead with 6:42 remaining in the first half, but TLU closed out the half with a 19-2 run to tie the score at 40-40.

Texas Lutheran built a 61-50 lead with 56 seconds to go in the third quarter, however CC closed to with three points when Bayston sank a pair of free throws a minute into the fourth quarter.

Colorado College will play host to the Bulldogs on Sunday, Feb. 6, in the final home game of the season.
