Kate Brush captured three individual victories and set a pool record in the 100-yard butterfly race to lead the Colorado College women's swimming and diving team to a 188-106 win over Division II CSU-Pueblo Saturday at the Sam Jones Aquatic Center in Pueblo, Colo.
Â
Brush flew past the field in the 100 butterfly, finishing with a time of 58.91 seconds, more than two seconds faster than runner-up Alyssa Grunloh of CSU-Pueblo. Brush also won the 200 freestyle (1:58.70) and 200 butterfly (2:14.54), and was a member of the triumphant 200 medley relay along with sophomore
Annie Bowens and freshmen
Amelia Grady and
Olivia Crisafulli.
Â
Bowens joined senior
Key Macfarland in winning a pair of races as well on Saturday. Bowens won the 50 and 100 freestyle races, while Macfarland took home first place in the 200 breaststroke and 400 IM. In addition, Bowens swam with Crisafulli and freshmen
Nabila Argueta and
Sarah Beelaert to win the meet-closing 200-yard freestyle relay.
Â
Argueta, meanwhile, finished second to Bowens in the 50 and 100 freestyle, while junior
Peyton Classon and sophomore
Gina Lynch won the 1-meter diving and 100 backstroke events, respectively.
Â
This was a very good performance by our team today," head coach Anne Goodman-James said. "Based on season bests for both teams entering the meet, this should have been a nail biter, but we just kept racing so well that we took control before the last segment. I'm so proud of our team."
Â
The Tigers return to action on Saturday, Dec. 11, with a dual meet against Adams State at Schlessman Natatorium, beginning at noon. Â
