Tigers Look For Minnesota Sweep at No. 6 SCSU

Tigers Wrap up Minnesota Swing Against SCSU
Colorado College completes its two-game swing in Minnesota against sixth-ranked St. Cloud State on Saturday, Feb. 20, at the National Hockey Center, beginning at noon (CT). The game will be broadcast in Colorado Springs on KRDO NewsRadio 105.5 FM, 1240 AM and 92.5 FM and streamed live on NCHC.tv.

Make Up Games From The Pod
This weekend's games were originally scheduled for the NCHC Pod in Omaha in December, but were postponed when the Tigers arrived late due to a positive COVID-19 test and subsequent quarantine prior to the Pod.

Last Time Out
Troy Conzo scored the game-winning goal with 2:29 remaining in the third period and Dominic Basse had a career-high 42 saves as Colorado College swept the season series against No. 8 Minnesota Duluth with a come-from-behind 2-1 victory Thursday night at Amsoil Arena. Conzo took a pass from Hunter McKown from behind the net and fired a one-timer from the left circle past UMD goalie Ryan Fanti for his second goal of the season. The Tigers then survived the final 1:37 with an extra UMD attacker on the ice, including three saves by Basse and a pair of blocked shots by co-captain Zach Berzolla. CC, which defeated the Bulldogs 4-1 earlier this season during the NCHC Pod in Omaha, Neb., snapped a nine-game losing streak and handed UMD its third consecutive loss. Basse was stellar the entire 60 minutes, turning away 17 shots in the first period and helping the Tigers kill off a 5-on-3 advantage for 1:42 by the Bulldogs prior to the middle of the opening frame. The Bulldogs' leading scorer, Nick Swaney, put UMD on the board just 19 seconds into the second period. Swaney took a pass from Wyatt Kaiser, slid to the slot, and placed a wrist shot past a screened Basse to take a 1-0 lead. The Tigers played spirited hockey in the third period and it paid off when freshman Matthew Gleason evened the game at 1-1 with his first career goal during a Tiger power play. Gleason, playing in just his third game after joining the team in January, took a pass from Chase Foley at his own blue line, skated down the left side and behind the net before beating UMD goalie Ryan Fanti with a wrister from the right circle. Basse took over from there, saving 14 Bulldog shots in the third period. UMD outshot the Tigers, 43-14, but did not convert on any of its three power-play opportunities. CC finished the game 1-for-3 on the power play.

Tigers Opened the Season At The "NCHC Pod"
Due to the ramifications of the COVID-19 pandemic, the NCHC opened the 2020-21 season with all eight teams playing in Omaha, Neb. With the focus on the health and safety of student-athletes, coaches, staff, and officials, the conference has intentionally attempted to limit team travel. Because of this, NCHC teams have been divided into two divisions based on geography for 2020-21 scheduling purposes: East and West. The East Division consists of Miami, Minnesota Duluth, St. Cloud State and Western Michigan. The West Division consists of Colorado College, Denver, North Dakota and Omaha. CC arrived to the Pod late due to a postiive COVID-19 test within the program and subsequent 14-day quarantine for the entire team. The Tigers played eight games within a span of 12 days, and will make up games against St. Cloud State and Minnesota Duluth during the second half of the season.
