Jacqui Hand Named Women’s Soccer Captain

Junior forward Jacqui Hand, who earned all-Pacific Region honors from the United Soccer Coaches as well as a spot on the all-Mountain West second team last year, will serve as captain of the Colorado College women's soccer team during the upcoming 2020-21 season.

"We are excited to see how Jacqui will lead this group and we believe she has the perfect mindset to be successful," head coach Geoff Bennett said. "She will lead by example and will lead by fostering great relationships with her teammates. You can't put a price on competitiveness and what it means to a team - Jacs has that in spades and we believe that will be contagious amongst the group."

Hand earned the arm band after being voted the team's Most Valuable Player and Offensive Player of the Year last season when she led the Tigers with career highs of nine goals and 19 points. Her nine goals were the most by a Tiger since Sarah Schweiss scored 10 in 2015, while her 19 points were the most since Lauren Milliet recorded 22 in 2017.

The Auckland, New Zealand, native struck for five game-winning goals, the most for CC since Schweiss recorded six in 2015. She scored the only goal in the 1-0 victory over Colorado State University, the first-ever night game at Stewart Field, as well as the 1-0 win at Mountain West regular-season and tournament champion Boise State University.

Hand struck for a pair of goals during victories over Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (2-1), Saint Francis University (4-0) and at the University of Nevada (3-0).

She ranked fourth in the Mountain West in total goals as well as her average of 0.53 goals per game. She also finished fourth in the league averaging 1.12 points per game and was tied for fourth with 19 points.

With its 3-2, come-from-behind victory at Air Force in the season finale, the Tigers completed the 2019 campaign with a 10-7-0 overall record and a 5-6-0 mark in conference play.

CC kicks off its 2020-21 schedule on Saturday, March 6, against the Falcons at the Cadet Soccer Stadium.
