Kiley Suter scored 2:03 into overtime to give the Colorado College women's soccer team a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Utah State Sunday morning in Logan, Utah.
Â
Suter took a pass from
Abby Hubbard and blasted a rocket into the top right corner of the net past Utah State goalkeeper Diera Walton for her second game-winning goal of the season and the Tigers' first-ever win in Logan.
Â
Colorado College was clinging to a 1-0 lead late in the game, then USU's Imelda Williams evened things up in the 87
th minute by placing a header past goalkeeper
Greta Forseth. Forseth, who entered the game in the 12
th minute after starting keeper
Ally Wakeman left the game due to an injury, finished with four saves.
Â
Following a scoreless first half,
Camille Weaver opened the scoring with a 40-yard shot that eluded the outstretched arms of Walton in the 47
th minute. Weaver was a force on both ends of the field, muscling several USU players off the ball throughout the contest.
Â
Utah State finished the game with a 17-9 advantage in total shots, but shots on goal were even at six apiece.
Â
"I haven't been this proud of a team in a long time," Bennett said. "This weekend's travel, game times and adversity was menacing, but we never blinked. We had a rough result Friday in a game we felt was evenly played and we came out here and produced a great result. We showed our character today."
