First-year attacker
Bridget Hanley set the program record with 11 points and matched the standard of eight assists to lead the Colorado College women's lacrosse team to a 22-0 victory over the University of Dallas on Sunday afternoon at Washburn Field.
Hanley scored two of her three goals during the first eight minutes as the Tigers bolted to a 6-0 lead, then set up eight of 12 goals in a run that began with 19:17 remaining in the first half and ended 12:33 remaining in the game.
Hanley's 11 points are one more than the mark first set by Mary Everett 22 years ago to the day – April 18, 1999 - against Kenyon College and matched twice by Steph Kelly against both Concordia-Wisconsin and Augustana College during the 2016 season.  Â
Kelley's record of eight assists also was set during the 20-13 victory at Augustana on May 1, 2016.
"Bridget rose to the challenge of anchoring the settled attack as we had to shuffle our personnel to fill in some gaps of missing players," head coach
Susan Stuart said. "Her vision on the field has been growing exponentially over the past few games and I am excited for her future with this young Tiger team."
Bella Beattie scored four consecutive goals late in the first half and assisted on two others to become CC's first player to reach 20 goals and 30 points this season
Bella Scola also finished with four goals for the third game in a row.
Courtney Zell produced three goals and an assist during the first 30 minutes, and was a force at the other end of the field while helping the defense record the program's first shutout since a 23-0 win over Marian University on March 18, 2019.
Thanks to the suffocating defensive effort, sophomore goaltender
Natalie Slade lowered her season goals-against average to 7.68. Slade steered aside the only shot that UD put on target.
Zell finished with three caused turnovers and three ground balls, which was the same total recorded by Beattie.
Hayley Heinecken picked up 11 draw controls and three ground balls. The first-year midfielder also scored once and added an assist.
Colorado College won 23 of 24 draw controls, recorded a 42-2 advantage in total shots and built a 24-8 edge on ground balls.
The game marked the second time this season the Tigers scored 20 or more goals in a game. During its five-game winning streak, CC has outscored its opponents 91-22 and averaged 18.2 goals per game while allowing 4.4.
"I am very proud of the discipline this team showed this weekend with executing plays, listening to direction from the sideline and the adjusting to new offensive and defensive schemes put in during the weekend," Stuart said. "The team chemistry is very high right now and is evident in our play."
