Colorado College falls to Buffs In Colorado Cup Finale

The Colorado College women's soccer suffered a heartbreaking loss to the University of Colorado on Sunday afternoon when the Buffs scored 7:33 into the first overtime to escape with a 1-0 victory in a Colorado Cup game at the University of Denver.

On CU's third corner kick of the extra period, Shyra James found the net off of a touch from Hannah Sharts to give the Buffs their second consecutive overtime victory in the series against CC. The 2017 encounter was played in Boulder.

The goal spoiled a superb defensive effort by the Tigers, who did not allow a shot on goal until Tessa Barton's effort made it through to goalkeeper Taryn Benham in the 65th minute.

Colorado goalkeeper Dani Hansen stopped a pair of shots, the first by Coley Lyubenko in the 53rd minute and another by Haley Harnisch with 2:45 remaining in regulation time.

Colorado finished with an 8-4 edge in total shots while each team put two shots on target.

The Buffs also had a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.
