The Colorado College men's soccer team improved to 3-0 this season with a 2-1 victory at St. Olaf College on Friday afternoon in the Tigers' first road game of the 2021 season.
Â
With the Tigers leading 1-0,
Kevin Peterson scored an insurance goal late in the 88th minute with a crossing shot from the right side of the box into the lower left corner, but his tally became the game winner when St. Olaf scored on a direct kick with 29 seconds remaining.
Â
The winning sequence was set up by great teamwork along the St. Olaf end line by junior midfielder
Sajji Singh and freshman forward
Gabe Kellman. In addition to draining valuable time off the clock, the two Tigers worked the ball to freshman midfielder Will Sylvain, who laid a pass off to Peterson.
Â
Colorado College broke a scoreless tie 7:01 into the second half when
Alexander Ward put a left-footed shot into the top left corner from just outside the box for his first tally of the campaign.
Â
The Tigers finished with a 10-9 advantage in total shots and a 5-4 margin in shots on goal.
Â
St. Olaf won four corner kicks, while CC took three.
Â
Senior goalkeeper
Keleher Felton made a pair of saves, while his back line also cleared a shot by Hakeem Morgan off the line in the 25th minute. Felton has allowed just three goals in three games this year.

Coaches Comments

Scott Palguta said. "The first half was very even overall, but I thought we imposed our will a bit in the second half and really forced the game. We scored two excellent goals and were solid and consistent on the back line."
