Freshman forward
Gabe Kellman struck for his first career goal and set up another, however the Colorado College men's soccer team saw its three-game winning streak come to an end with a 6-2 setback on Sunday at Macalester College.
Kellman gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute when his perfectly placed first-touch volley from 12 yards out off found the net inside the near post. First-year midfielder
Curtis Hale earned an assist after he settled a clearing attempt on the left side and sent a pass into a waiting Kellman who was stationed on the left side of the 18-yard box.
The Scots leveled the score almost 10 minutes later when a loose ball ricocheted it's way to an unmarked Hans Haenicke, who was waiting at the left edge of the six-yard box and knocked the ball in before CC goalkeeper
Keleher Felton could cover the post.
Macalester took the lead in the 33rd minute on Will Orser's penalty kick to the top right corner, and then added a pair of goals off corner kicks 1:36 before halftime and 1:59 into the second half.
Any thoughts of a Colorado College comeback were dashed when Ben Wagner scored twice in a span of 1:38 to give the Scots a five-goal lead in the 51st minute.
Colorado College got one back with a little more than 30 minutes to play when freshman midfielder
Vincent Luglio scored his second goal of the year on a bending shot from the right side of the box after taking a touch from Kellman.
Luglio now is second on the team with two goals and four points, while Kellman is third in points with three.
Macalester finished with a 20-11 advantage in total shots and a 9-3 edge in corner kicks. Â Â Â

Coaches Comments
"We simply were outcompeted today," head coach
Scott Palguta said. "They had 11 players show up and put their best foot forward, and we didn't. Even up 1-0 early in the game, we always looked vulnerable. I hope we all learned a valuable lesson today. I believe in the potential of this team, but wins are earned, they're not just handed out."
