Tigers Rout Austin College in SCAC Opener

Gabe Kellman scored twice and added an assist, and Sajji Singh collected four helpers as the Colorado College men's soccer team opened Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action with a 5-0 victory over Austin College Friday evening at Stewart Field.

Kellman set the tone right off the opening kickoff by stealing the ball from the 'Roos and sending a shot on goal that was saved by Austin goalkeeper Connor Tullis.

The next two shots by Kellman, however, found the back of the net. In the 13th minute, he took a touch pass from Singh, moved to the middle of the box and put a shot just inside the left post for a 1-0 lead.

In the 19th minute, Kellman took a free kick from Singh and headed the ball past Tullis to double the advantage. Mason Davis scored his first career goal to make it 3-0 just before halftime with a header of his own off a corner kick from Teddy Libby.

Freshmen Remi Maher and Will Bavier each scored his first goal as a Tiger in the second half. Maher knocked in a rebound off a shot from Kellman and free kick from Singh, then Singh recorded his fourth assist of the game with a beautiful through pass to Bavier, who easily beat Tullis.

Singh's four assists are the most in one game by a Tiger in at least 15 years.

Colorado College dominated the entire game, outshooting Austin 33-6 in total shots and 14-1 in shots on goal. The Tigers also collected 13 corner kicks, compared to three for the 'Roos.

Keleher Felton made one save for the Tigers before giving way to Brandon Burke for the final 25 minutes of action.

Coach's Comments
"We really wanted to get good pressure to Austin's back four early and often, and I thought we did that well throughout the game," head coach Scott Palguta said. "We won the ball back in our attacking half a lot and got some really good looks at goal as a result. It was great to see Will, Remi, and Mason score their first career goals, and Sajji Singh was a real handful throughout the game. Gabe did a great job getting us going with a couple of well taken goals.
