Suter’s Golden Goal Lifts Tigers Over Southern Utah

Senior forward Kiley Suter struck for the game-winning goal 4:51 into overtime to give the Colorado College women's soccer team a 1-0 victory over Southern Utah University on Sunday afternoon at Stewart Field.

Suter took a feed from senior forward Jacqui Hand and curled a low shot from 22 yards out on the right side past SUU goalkeeper Megan Short into the left side of the net. Kaelin Enga, who started the winning sequence with an outlet pass from CC's defensive third to Hand, earned her first career point.

The goal was Suter's fifth career game winner and her second "Golden Goal."

The Colorado College defense turned in a suffocating effort, allowing only two shots, neither of which was on target.

Goalkeeper Taryn Behnam was the beneficiary of the defensive performance, earning her first victory and shutout as a Tiger without having to make a save.

At the other end of the pitch, CC generated a multitude of scoring chances, but were kept off the scoreboard by Short, who steered aside 12 shots.

In the 35th minute, Short tipped Alexa Porter's direct kick from 40 yards over the crossbar.

With 15 minutes remaining in regulation she made consecutive saves on shots by Haley Harnisch and Adelaide Gaffney to keep the score level at 0-0.

Colorado College launched 25 shots, one of which went off the crossbar, and won 15 corner kicks, compared to five for the Thunderbirds.
