Sharon Dingman earned her first victory at Colorado College as the Tigers began the season with a 25-18, 25-17, 25-17 victory over Linfield University in the 2021 CC Classic on Friday afternoon at Reid Arena.
Senior outside hitter
Isabella Vasquez put down a match-high 13 kills and completed a double-double with 12 digs.
Georgia Mullins produced 10 kills on an error-free 19 swings to finish the match with a .526 hitting percentage. The senior middle hitter also had a hand in three of CC's four blocked shots.
Sophomore setter
Jenny Jenks dished out 30 assists while leading the Tigers to a .333 team hitting percentage. She also recorded 10 assists to complete the second double-double of her career.
Colorado College took the first set without much trouble, but the Wildcats went point-for-point with the Tigers until the hosts snapped a 15-15 deadlock with a 5-1 run. After Linfield got a point back on a blocked shot by Ellie Mead and Kara Thomas, CC ran off the final five points that started and finished with kills by Mullins.
The Wildcats tried to get back in the match in the third set and built an 8-5 lead on a combined block by Mead and Aylea Dixon. However, the Tigers answered with a 7-2 surge that forced Linfield to burn their first time out.
The onslaught continued as Colorado College won six of the next seven points to open an 18-11 cushion, with three of the final four points coming on kills from Vasquez. The Tigers extended their lead to 21-12 on an ace from Mullins, and after the Wildcats closed to within 22-17, CC won the final points to put the match away.
Raelynn Hammock led Linfield with 10 kills, while Yssa Alcones had a team-high 11 digs.
