Freshman midfielder
Vincent Luglio struck for his first collegiate goal with a little more than 15 minutes remaining in the game to help the Colorado College men's soccer team grind out a 2-1 victory over Lake Forest College on Sunday afternoon at Stewart Field.
Luglio's persistence paid off as he knocked in the rebound of his second consecutive blocked shot after Kiran and Saaji Singh kept the play alive in the box.
After a scoreless first half, the Tigers broke through when
Kiran Singh scored his third goal of the young season on a header off assists from
Ronan McCann and
Curtis Hale.
A little more than three minutes later, the Foresters answered with a goal on their only scoring threat of the game.
CC goalkeeper
Keleher Felton made a spectacular diving save on a shot from the left side by Muhammad Prijic, but the rebound went directly to the center of the box where Philip Szutkiewicz was waiting to knock the ball into the open net.
From that point on, however, the Tiger defense did not allow another shot while closing out their second victory in a little more than 24 hours.
Colorado College finished with a commanding 30-6 advantage in total shots and a 10-2 edge in shots on goal.
The Tigers won six corner kicks, while Lake Forest managed four.

Coaches Comments
"It was a great weekend for our young team," head coach
Scott Palguta said. "With little time to recover, today's game was a grind, but I thought the team kept their composure and found a way to get the job done. I have been impressed with the competitive mentality our freshmen have brought to the field, and our upperclassmen are doing a great job of leading by example. The season has only just begun, but we have given ourselves a strong foundation to build from."
