The Colorado College men's swimming and diving team routed Division II Adams State, 232-10, Friday afternoon at Schlessman Natatorium in the first meet of 2022.
Â
The Tigers produced a balanced attack on Friday as seven swimmers won two events apiece.
Â
Cade Thumann,
Tony Saenz and
Collin Ralston each won two individual races. Thumann captured the 100-yard freestyle and 200 IM races, while Saenz won the 200 backstroke and 200 breaststroke.
Â
Meanwhile, Ralston was triumphant in the 100 breaststoke, then touched the wall just .02 of a second before teammate
Step Flanagan in the 500-yard freestyle event.
Â
Topher Shepherd and
Caleb Peimann each won an individual event and swam on the winning 200 freestyle relay, while
Jack Hussin and
Jack Higgins did the same with the 400 medley relay.
Â
"It was great to get a meet in during our intensive training camp period," head coach Anne Goodman-James said. "We had the opportunity to have people race in some different events, and it was really fun to see our team step up in something outside their comfort zone. I have a lot of respect for the Adams State swimmers. They have had some real challenges with their pool and staff turnover, and they have stayed so tough."Â
Â
The Tigers return to action next week by hosting the Colorado College Classic, Jan. 21-23, at Schlessman Natatorium.
