The Colorado College men's swimming and diving team defended its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championship on Saturday, leading the conference meet from start to finish.
The Tigers finished with 928 points, followed by the University of St. Thomas with 583 and McMurry with 428.
"Winning a second straight SCAC title speaks to the culture they continue to build," head coach
Jen Buffin said. "They brought energy and purpose to each session of the meet and rose to the moment. It's exciting to see them climbing in the national standings and positioning themselves for NCAA qualification standards. They understand they are building on a strong legacy, and they've embraced the responsibility of carrying that forward. We're proud of how they competed and eager to see them continue racing and pushing this program to new heights."
Edmund Davis won his third individual title of the weekend and sixth of his career, taking first place in the 1650 freestyle for the third time. He led a 1-2-3 finish with a time of 16:00.61, followed by
Mark Lofye (16:30.29) and Lucio Bolletierri (17:00.00).
Sam Allen defended his 200 backstroke crown, earning his third title of the weekend with a school-record time of 1:47.35.
Logan Loveday finished second in 1:52.19.
Andrew Colgan captured his third career individual title by winning the 200 breaststroke with a school-record mark of 2:00.46, and the foursome of
Liam McCarthy, Allen, Davis and
Dax Sherwood closed the meet with a win in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:02.70, also a school record.
On the boards,
Nico Rimer finished second in the 3-meter event with 399.65 points. After winning the 1-meter event on Friday, Rimer was named the SCAC Diver of the Meet.
Meanwhile,
Kole Petersen earned the prsetigious SCAC Elite 19 Award.
