The Colorado College women's swimming and diving team defeated Adams State University, 193-37, Friday afternoon in the Tigers' first meet of 2022.
Â
Kate Brush once again led the team with four victories, two individual and two relays. She won the 500-yard freestyle and 200 butterfly races, in addition to swimming on the 200 freestyle and 400 medley relays.
Â
Key Macfarland, also a member of the 200 freestyle relay, captured the 200 freestyle and 200 IM individual races.
Â
Four Tigers were two-time winners on Friday.
Peyton Classon won both the 1- and 3-meter diving events, while
Gina Lynch touched the wall first in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Meanwhile,
Maddie Amick and
Nabila Argueta, both on the triumphant 400 medley relay team, won the 200 backstroke and 200 breaststroke, respectively.
Â
"It was great to get a meet in during our intensive training camp period," head coach Anne Goodman-James said. "We had the opportunity to have people race in some different events, and it was really fun to see our team step up in something outside their comfort zone. I have a lot of respect for the Adams State swimmers. They have had some real challenges with their pool and staff turnover, and they have stayed so tough."Â
Â
The Tigers return to action next week by hosting the Colorado College Classic, Jan. 21-23, at Schlessman Natatorium.
