Zoe Tomlinson posted her sixth double-double, and
Audrey Bayston and
Laura Strenk hit clutch three-pointers in the second half to help the Colorado College women's basketball team record its sixth victory in the last nine games with a 63-50 win over Austin College on Sunday afternoon at Reid Arena.
Tomlinson scored a team-high 16 points and pulled down a game-high 15 rebounds. Bayston scored 11 of her 15 points in the second half, while Strenk produced eight points and five rebounds during the final 20 minutes
Bayston hit a pair of three pointers as the Tigers scored 14 consecutive points to open the third quarter.
After Tomlinson's layup gave CC a 39-25 cushion with 5:52 to play in the third quarter, the 'Roos answered with a 14-2 run to cut their deficit to two points.
Tomlinson sank a pair of free throws and Bayston hit her third triple of the quarter to help the Tigers extend their lead to 46-39 after 30 minutes.
Lauren Traylor drained a three-pointer from the right win to pull Austin to within six points, but Strenk hit a pair of three-pointers during a 14-6 surge that gave Colorado College a 62-48 lead with only 3:02 remaining.
Kacie West scored 14 of her game-high 18 points in the first half as Austin College built a six-point lead during the first quarter. The 'Roos led 25-24 before Tomlinson hit a free throw to tie the game at 25-25 after 20 minutes.
The Tigers finished with a 61-40 advantage on the glass and enjoyed a 24-11 advantage in points off the bench.
Colorado College Standouts
Anna Fanelli scored seven points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out six assists.
Rosie Braley grabbed six rebounds and scored five points.
Austin College Standouts
Kacie West led the 'Roos with a game-high 18 points.
Lauren Traylor scored 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Notes
Colorado College improved to 9-11 overall and 6-5 in the SCAC.
Austin College slipped to 6-10 overall and 5-3 in conference play.
