Tigers Prevail In Defensive Battle at Nebraska Wesleyan

    
The Colorado College women's basketball team held Nebraska Wesleyan University scoreless for the final 2:50 and pulled away for a 49-41 victory on Tuesday.

The Tigers led 36-25 at the end of the third quarter, but NWU utilized a 16-6 surge to pull to within one point when Ellie Bream hit a jump shot with just under three minutes to play.

After Anna Fanelli doubled her team's lead with a free throw 22 seconds later, CC pressured the PrairieWolves into five missed shots and a turnover and began to pull away.

Rosie Braley scored two of her eight points on a layup with 1:49 to play, then Tedy Reed gave Colorado College a six-point lead with 27 seconds remaining.

Audrey Bayston, who set up Braley's basket, sealed the victory by canning a pair of free throws with four seconds to go.

Talia Cloud led the Tigers' balanced offense with 10 points and grabbed six rebounds. Zoe Tomlinson produced nine points, eight rebounds and a pair of assists.

Braley finished with eight points and pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds.

CC finished with a 50-39 advantage on the glass and held Nebraska Wesleyan to less than 27 percent shooting from the floor and 11 percent from behind the arc.
       
      
Colorado College Standouts
Tedy Reed finished with eight points, three rebounds and three assists.
Anna Fanelli dished out a game-high five assists and grabbed five rebounds.
 
Nebraska Wesleyan Standouts
Rhett Partridge led the PrairieWolves with eight points and five rebounds.
Anna Vandenack finished with five points and five rebounds.

Next for the Tigers
Colorado College returns home to open a three-game Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference home stand, which begins Friday night against Centenary College.
