Tigers Extend Unbeaten Streak in Victory Over Southwestern

The Colorado College men's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to eight games with a 2-1 win against Southwestern University on Friday. The victory is the first time the Tigers have beaten the Pirates in Georgetown since 2017.

Freshman goalkeeper Jasper Broad got the start in the net for the Tigers and made six saves before Bowen Blair played the final 17 minutes of the match.

The Pirates struck first in the 35th minute with an unassisted goal by Carr Panetta.

CC scored two unanswered goals in the second period to claim the victory in Georgetown. Senior midfielder Kevin Peterson scored unassisted in the 47th minute to start the momentum for the Tigers. Sophomore defender Curtis Hale scored his fourth goal of the season off an assist from senior midfielder Sajji Singh in the 50th minute to break the tie.

The Pirates out shot the Tigers 14-10 and 5-3 on corner kicks.

"We're really proud of the toughness and resilience the team displayed tonight," coach Scott Palguta said. "Southwestern is a difficult place to play. The performance is far from our best, but we found a way to get the job done."

Colorado College's eight-game unbeaten streak is the longest since the 2019 season. The Tigers improved to 6-2-3 overall and 2-0-1 in the SCAC.

The Tigers return to action on Sunday when they take on Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas.
